Field App - What does the "Transfers" screen show me?
Within the NetLook Field App, a number of questions have been asked about the "Transfers" screen. This post is just meant to explain what the user is seeing on that Transfers screen and what is happening behind the scenes in the application.
Here is a video to show what you will see on the transfer screen:
When a user shoots photos, videos or other media elements in the Field App, we have to move those items off of the smart phone device where they are created and get them on to the NetLook servers for final display. Each type of media (photos, videos, spins) are treated as a separate "job". So there may be multiple transfer jobs for each car that gets completed.
The Transfers screen show the total number of "jobs" that are running for a user in a little bubble just below the main title menu. Those transfer jobs should count down towards 0 automatically.
At the same time, there is a status bar that will appear for each of the transfer jobs while it is being worked on. That status bar will show the total number of photos, or videos, or spins that are being moved to the server for each job.
Once the status bar is filled, then you should see the count bubble decrease in value. The transfer to the server is not complete until you see the job bubble turn gray and report "0 Jobs".
The transfers should happen automatically. If the count gets stuck at a certain value, you can try to stop the NetLook Field App completely and restart it to see if that frees up the transfer process. The transfers will continue to run as long as you are working in the NetLook Field App, you can navigate to any other screen in the application and continue the normal work process.
Once the transfer to the NetLook Server is complete, then a Render Job is started and that is a report available on another screen (we will do a post about that separately).
